Stay
abreast of current volunteer opportunities in the community through
the Community Volunteer Center's (CVC) volunteer opportunity mailing
list and quartlerly newsletter sent via email. Contact the CVC to
discuss in detail how you may share your skills and talents and what
type of volunteer opportunities may be right for you. To
join our mailing list, please email
us.
Volunteer
as a family. Most of us work fulltime, our children are involved in
activities, and belong to churches and barely have enough time to
spend with our family. Make volunteering a time to spend with your
family. Engage your spouse, children, siblings, parents, and grandparents
in a family volunteer project.
Corporate
volunteering. Companies who invest in volunteerism generally benefit
from a more highly skilled workforce, increased morale, motivation,
and teamwork. They also tend to enjoy enhanced customer loyalty and
satisfaction, along with a better public image.
Collaborate
with the CVC and other necessary entities to solve social problems
in the community through volunteerism.
Virtual
volunteering. If you have computer access and the necessary skills,
some organizations now offer the opportunity to do volunteer work
over the computer. This might take the form of giving free legal advice,
typing a college term paper for someone with a disability or simply
keeping contact with a shut-in who has email. This sort of volunteering
might suit you well if you have limited time, no transportation or
a physical disability that precludes you from getting around freely.
Virtual volunteering can also be a way for you to give time if you
simply enjoy computers and want to employ your skill in your volunteer
work.
